So, it's been a little while since I posted. Ever since my camera broke it's kind of a bummer because I have to wait for people to send me copies of pictures. Lame. Oh well, I have ordered a new camera and can't wait to start taking more pics!
Ok, so Megan and I ditched work last Monday and headed up to Brianhead with Missy and Brian. We had sooo much fun and Missy is getting better and better at riding. I am bound and determined to get better this year, so I made a goal that I was going to 180 off the little kickers. Not a difficult task, right? So you would think.
It was icy in the morning, but it got softer as the day warmed up. The first couple of runs were awesome and I was on a roll. First I came down and hit the rainbow box, then the long box, and then got some pretty good air on the first kicker, except my landing slipped and I slid head-first into a tree. Don't worry, I wasn't going too fast and the tree was small. So anyway, here's where it gets good! A couple of runs later, Brian had been coaching me on how to 180 off the jump. I can do it standing, so how hard can it be to do it with a little air? I was feeling pumped because all of my previous runs were awesome, and I was feeling more adventurous than usual that day. So I took the advice of a friend and decided to just do it and think later. I rolled over the first kicker, so I woulnd't get too much speed for the second...and then disaster struck. I have no idea what happened, but I threw caution to the wind, tried the 180, and ended up 5 feet in the air with my body completely parallel to the ground. Crap. I put my hands out to brace my fall as I dove head-first toward the ground. Don't worry, I didn't break a wrist or anything because my face broke my fall! After my face hit the ground and bounced once before hitting again, I hit my left ribs, hip, knee, and then my right knee, and then I rolled a few times. I got up, goggles askew, and started laughing! It was actually really funny. I kept trying for the rest of the day too. We got it on video, so if you want to check it out, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jc0rfK9ZJM. It's pretty good! :)
So anyway, when we got back to the car at the end of the day, we assessed the damage. I had a small scrape under my left eyebrow, and a tiny bruise under my left eye, a slight fat lip, a red scrape under my chin (so Brian decided to change my nickname from Turd Ferguson to Red Beard. Nice. Thanks for that), a bruise on my left ribs and hip, and both of my knees were covered in bruises. All in all I think I counted 13! Oh well, we had a blast and it was sooo worth it. Maybe Megan and I will get hurt even more as we venture up to Snowbird and Brighton this weekend! I'll keep you posted!
Oh, the irony of my shirt...

I laughed outloud when I watched the video, but only because you were ok. Well kind of ok! But ya gotta feel pretty tough with all the war wounds.
