Floral Shop Names...

Ok friends, I'm back in sunny Las Vegas and starting up the floral biz. I'm so excited because I'm already getting some great weddings this summer. My brides are so cute and I'm having a lot of fun! Here's the deal though...I need to pick a name for my business and I've gotten a lot of great ideas from my good friend Jason, but I'm looking for your opinions or new name ideas also. Help me pick a fun, catchy name that reflects my personality and my fun, creative passion! You can even try to incorporate something frenchy into it, since Paris is my muse and that is where my passion and vision for my floral shop was derived.

1. The Floral Express

2. Green Thumbs
3. The Floral Décor
4. Melissa le Fleuriste
5. Fleurs par Melissa
6. The Flower Pot

7. Always Bloomin’

8. The Petal Pusher

9. Pussy Willows - (Megan's contribution)
10. Oops-a-Daisy
11. Pluck This - (Joni's contribution)
12. You Can Call Me Flower if You Want to - (Missy's contribution)
13. Strawberry Fields Forever - (Another Joni one...)

Clearly...my friends need help...

A Thought...

"Through tears and trials, through fears and sorrows, through the heartache and loneliness of losing loved ones, there is assurance that life is everlasting. Our Lord and Savior is the living witness that such is so."
Thomas S. Monson, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives!" Ensign, May 2007, 25

Megan reminded me of this quote the other day and I really find comfort in it, especially during this month. It's been a year since Grandma Heggie and Heather have left this life and even though not a day goes by when they are not thought about and missed, there is great comfort in knowing that we will see them again. I love this gospel and the blessings the Plan of Salvation brings into our lives.

Quick Poll...

Ok, so I have issues - I'm fully aware of this. I am by no means extremely tall, but I'm 5'7'', which is supposedly "average height." I don't really believe it is though. I think the average is shorter. Clearly there are many girls who are much taller than me, and very secure with their height. I am not! I love to wear high heels and I love to be tall, but then I have issues with being too tall sometimes. Wha?? I clearly can't decide.
Anyway, I have to admit that I struggle with my height sometimes and feel like I get looked over by the dude department because I'm not 5'2". It doesn't even matter how tall the dude is either, I have a syndrome where I think they all pick the little ones and I have to admit that sometimes I feel like Big Rhonda on That 70s Show! Am I the only one that sometimes wishes I was about 3" shorter?

Happy Mother's Day!

Ok, I realize these pics and events are WAY out of date, but I figured that I've waited so long that I might as well make it into a Mother's Day post for my madre. She came out to visit me in Portland approx. 1 month ago to bring me home and we had a blast. It was really fun to show her around Portland a little bit and we took a day to explore Canon Beach and Astoria, which was amazing! The Oregon coast is absolutely beautiful! The weather was gorgeous and we saw some pretty amazing stuff. I even convinced her to drive over the 4 mile long bridge that crosses the Columbia where it meets the Pacific Ocean. It was tons of fun to spend some one on one time with her, and now that we're back in Las Vegas we're working together at the same office. It's been really good and I know she puts up with a lot of crap from me, but she's a good mom to do so.

Just in case you guys don't know my mom very well, I'll tell you a few things about her. She's tons of fun and has a great sense of humor. She's very selfless when it comes to her children and has always given us everything we needed before ever thinking of herself. She has a truly compassionate heart for others and worries a lot! Her family is the number one most important thing in her life, whether it's her sisters, dad, husband, children or grandchildren. Nothing ever comes before family. She is surprisingly strong physically, and has a very tender spirit and strong testimony. She has been a great example to my brothers and I growing up and I think she and my dad did a pretty good job raising us. :)

Being the only girl we have a special relationship because she's like a mom, a sister, and a best friend. I am very blessed to have her as my mom and I'm glad she let me pick her in Heaven, even if I have been responsible for every gray hair she's ever had!

Goonies, anyone?
Haystack Rock - Canon Beach

Flavel Mansion - Astoria

County Jail - Astoria

Yup - That's Data's house on the left and the Goonie's house on the right.

The school from Kindergarten Cop

Aaaaagghhh! Fire!
I should have been in the movie too, right?

Alert the Media!

I just heard a commercial on the radio for the Tan Factory, or something like that, that said tanning "Makes you look HEALTHIER, THINNER, makes your eyes BRIGHTER, and your teeth WHITER." And to think that all these years I've been wasting my time eating healthy, exercising, wearing glasses, and practicing proper dental hygiene when I could have just been tanning! Duh. I feel so foolish!

Oh, and forget about that whole cancer thing...I hear it's a hoax.

I'm in a Glass Case of Emotion!

Who knew it was possible to feel all of these emotions at the same time for different reasons?
