Michael and I were talking the other night about how facebook sometimes isn't a super accurate
representation of oneself. We were saying that we felt like our blogs held a better representation
- though clearly the best would be our physical selves! I realized that though this has kind of
become a running log for me lately (which I have another doozie of an adventure from this weekend), I haven't really done a life update on here in a while.
wonderful! There was a looooot of time spent with family (EVERYONE was home this year), and I missed them so much when they went back to school, that they turned around and came back for me 20 mins after they'd left so I could venture up to Utah with them for a few days.
We clearly had a blast as usual and froze our buns off up there. Anyway, since then I've just been trying to keep a positive attitude about my new calling (Activities Co-Chair - and it's so much harder than being RS Prez!). I have to plan and be social, and we all know how much I love going to church activities these days. Our ward is in charge of the YSA Conference this year, which we're holding in June so Kris Belcher can come and speak to us. She's amazing!
I had a bunch of bridal showers and bachelorette parties and weddings to go to for a while there. My really good friend, Missy, and my cousin, Melinda, got married on back to back weekends. They were friends in high school and hair school and it just kind of turned out that way. Crazy, eh? The weddings were so different, but they were both a ton of fun and so beautiful. My cousin's sealing was the best I'd been to in a really long time. It was just really special and I loved it. I'm so happy for my friends! There are so many fun weddings and births coming up this year that I'm so excited for!
My friend, Dave, came and visited for a couple of days and we had a blast! I freaking love that kid. We shopped a little, he taught me how to play Craps, and we ate our weight in delicious food. You know how you always have a guy friend that you compare all guys to? That's Dave. If I could clone him and keep a copy for myself, I would! haha!
Anyway, besides all of that I've mostly just been developing a stronger relationship with Kindle, and trying to keep up with my training schedule for my next Half Marathon. Apparently it's a little harder to motivate yourself when you know you can run 13.1 miles now, and when it's 40* outside. I know, I'm a wuss...but that's cold here! I had a 12 miler this past weekend and let me tell you - rough times! Sheesh. The weather was great, but I think I did a lot of things wrong...nutrition being #1. I didn't eat right the night before, and I don't think I brought proper hydration. My body hated me. By mile 11 I was done. I called my dad and he drove a mile from the house to come get me. Pathetic. Apparently not though because I wasn't quite home for an hour before I vomited up everything I had ever eaten in my life. It was awful. I have to admit that I'm a bit afraid of my Half coming up in 2 weeks now. I just hope I learned my lesson and will be smarter. Oh - and I got my first souvenir of the season...
Apparently I needed to sunscreen my shoulders as well as my face. I mean, I don't want wrinkles so of course I did my face. Duh! Curse you Las Vegas weather for catching me off guard in March and starting my tanning season early though! It's ok, you can't tell if I do this, right??
Let's see...how can I possibly make this post even longer? My dad and I took advantage of being Las Vegas locals and finally went and saw Lion King!
I can't even tell you A) how great our seats were and B) how incredible the costuming in that show is. I was in constant amazement. It really is a great production, and it was a lot of fun to go on a little date with my Padre.
Welp, I think that's pretty much the Reader's Digest version of my life right now. Oh! And of course, Ragnar. We're doing a 200 mile relay race with 12 people in April. It goes from Huntington to San Diego and I can't wait! We have a really fun group going and it should be quite the adventure! After that I think I'm hanging up my long distance sneakers for a min. My poor little body is having a hard time keeping up, so I think I'll just stick to 10k's for a bit.
