Time to Relax

I went to Canada two weeks ago for Grandma Heggie's funeral and it was really fun to see the family and be up in the beautiful weather. All 9 kids in my mom's family came, as well as their kids. I hadn't seen some of my cousins in like 12 years, so it was a lot of fun. Many fun and tender stories were shared about my grandma, and it was nice to stroll down memory lane for a while. I spent a day in Calgary with Carter before I headed to Claresholm to spend time with the fam. We had lots of fun, and we picked up his new motorbike, so that was exciting!

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day for the funeral. The weather was perfect, and there wasn't even a Southern Alberta wind blowing! Amazing!

So, I got home from Canada on Monday, and then on Wednesday night my friend's husband called and informed me that my friend, Heather, had passed away. She was my neighbor for my first year and a half at Ricks, and then my roommate for the rest of the time until she got married to my friend, Jason. So, I hopped on a plane and headed to Seattle last weekend. I LOVE Seattle, and I love the rain, but I was happy when the sun was shining and it was almost hot the day of her funeral. Her service was really nice too. She was very mischevious, and lots of fun, so the stories we got to share all weekend were hilarious. I got to help dress her, and that was a difficult, yet special experience for me.

So, needless to say, I felt the need to just chill over the long weekend. My friends went to California, and I stayed home. It was actually really nice to just kind of veg out and get things done that had to be neglected over the past 2 weeks. I basically hung out with my friend Carrian, and her little girl, Peyton, all weekend too. Oh, I made new friends too, and we went longboarding last night, which was fantastic because I haven't been in so long. Unfortch, I hyperextended my thumb while doing a powerslide and it's killing me today! It's all swollen, but I can still move it, so I'm pretty sure it won't fall off or anything! whew! Anyway, so that's basically what I've been up to the last few weeks.

Me sitting in a big tire in Claresholm...what else is there to do, really? I went on a couple of nice walks while I was in Canada too. I forgot how beautiful the Spring is up there.

I'm glad you survived your last two crazy weeks... Dave said that he called you. I ran into him at a party at Tim's. It was so random... I'm moving into a new apartment not sure when yet, but hopefully I can be done with it and make it down at the end of June.
