Happy Happy Birthday Megan Dear

Woo hoo! Megan had a birthday and it was soooo much fun! We went to Ichiza (I think), which is a really cool Japanese restaurant in Chinatown. The food was delicious and it's really cool because you take off your shoes and sit around these cute little tables. After we ate, we went back to the house and had delicious ice cream cake made by Missy and Josh. It was divine! I ate way more than I intended to, but what's new?

Brian and Michelle showed up at the house and totally brought the party! They had sombreros for all and Missy and I got gifts as well as the birthday girl. It was the greatest! They got Megan a Bingo bag that holds all of your stuff and has slots for dobbers on the outside. In the bag was a Happy Birthday dobber for Megan, an Oh S*#t! dobber for Missy, and a maple leaf dobber for me. I was so happy! I was literally dobbing everything and everyone. So, naturally we had to go and play Bingo! It was Dave's first time playing and it was so entertaining trying to show him how. Sadly, nobody won but it was a fantastic birthday extravaganza anyway! Yay for birthdays!!

Other than that not much has been going on. I'm just working and trying to keep myself busy. I did Lori and Tim's wedding and the flowers were really pretty. They wilted a little bit in the heat of the photo shoot, but luckily I had time to fix what I could before the reception. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the flowers, but Lori's such a sweetheart and is going to let me get a couple from her. Whew!

Oh man, I had a slightly weird weekend though. My friend Lindsay has been here for the summer and we've only hung out for the last month, but we had tons of fun! He moved to Sacramento on Thursday for law school, my roommate Mindy was gone last week, Melinda was out with her boyfriend, Megan was at her sister's and I had no idea what to do with myself!! It's funny how you can get in little habits of hanging out with people so quickly. Don't worry. I met up with Missy and some random guys from Utah and we had fun down on the strip. Anyway, so that's pretty much my life right now. Mark is coming home soon and I can't wait to see him again! It's been so fun having Michael home, and I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE my family! I'm so lucky. :)

The Perfect Word

My cousin brought this word to my attention on urbandictionary.com the other day and I think it perfectly describes every male interaction I've somehow found myself in over the last 5 years! It just sounds a lot better than Friend-Zone Captain, don't you think! ;)

flirtationship

When you regularly flirt with an acquaintance or friend but do no more.

1. Rick and Julie flirt whenever they are together, but they've never gone out. They aren't in any sort of relationship, merely a flirtationship.

2. Bob has only one girlfriend, but starts a flirtationship with almost every girl he meets.

Just for Funsies...

MEMORY TAG!!!

1. Add a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments. I can't wait to see what people remember.***

I TAG EVERYONE

Ridiculously Happy!

I don't know what's going on with me lately, but I have been extremely happy. I mean, I know it's not a bad thing, but why?? It's not like there is a lot of new, exciting stuff in my life or anything, I'm just happy for no apparent reason. Don't get me wrong, I still have daily confusions and frustrations and what not, but behind it all I'm still really ridiculously happy. I like it. :)

Happy America Day!!

What a fun Independence Day I had this year! I went to a bbq at my parent's house with Mindy, and my friend Lindsay and it was delicious! After that we headed to my friend Brian's house for our traditional "Fourth of Dimaya" fireworks display. He really outdoes himself every year and this year there was spectacular! He had a dj with the entire show set to music, there was a burning ring of fire, and he jumped a ramp of fireworks on a mini-quad! It was amazing!!! The only thing that would have made it better is if I would have remembered to switch my SD card to my second camera when my battery died in the first. So...sadly, these are the only pictures that survived. The ones on my other camera were fantastic too. Oh well...Megan has some good ones I'm going to steal and post later. Oh yeah...and I've given it some thought....I think I'm finally going to take the test and become American when Mark gets home and teaches us the answers. I mean, it's been 13 years, so I might as well become American now, right??

Life Is Good

I just realized that I already did a post that included my birthday...oops. So, I guess this is going to be a more random post than I thought. We finally had my birthday cake a week after my birthday, but it was delicious...and Dad thought he would be funny and light all 26 candles with a blow torch. Real funny.

Every summer they do outdoor plays up at Spring Mountain Ranch and they're sooo much fun. My friend Krystal was in Beauty and the Beast this year, so I grabbed my roommate, Mindy, and my friend, Missy, and headed up there. They did such a good job on the play and we had a blast watching our friends. Krystal's boyfriend was Lafou and he cracked us up the whole time!

Check out Missy's crazy witch hand...I'll get you my pretty!

Megan and I headed up to Utah the weekend before the 4th and it was so good to see her family again. It had been way too long since I had been up there and I absolutely love her family! Her parents just opened up a new restaurant in Lehi called Charlie Boy's and it was delicious! It's Southern Bbq and it's seriously mouth-watering, plus it's got a really fun atmosphere. We met up with my friends, Cade and Carrian and their little girl Peyton, and hung out there all day. The weather was perfect and we had a blast teaching Peyton new dance moves and catching up on old times.

Mmmm...homemade ice cream

We also got to spend some time with our really good friend Dave. He seriously kills me and we had a blast hanging out with him. His roommate has these really cool old bikes, so we took the bikes out for a little midnight ride. The weather at night is perfect in Utah, so it was quite a delightful little ride! We may or may not have ditched Dave though. Oops! We didn't know he was going to grab another bike and follow us and we were just too fast! We also almost got lost up in his neighborhood in Holaday. It's confusing up there!

We actually went up there for Megan's dad's 60th birthday, so clearly we made him an amazing cake, and had fun picking out a new, fashionable hat.

Yup...there are 60 candles on that cake. :)

I know, I know...

Enough with the little posts already, right? Don't worry, I just hooked the internet up at our new(ish) house so I have full capacity to blog now and probably will tonight....since I have no life! So, stay tuned for my birthday, 4th of July, and random pics in between!

Anyway, I've had a lot of thinking time lately and I feel like my brain may slightly explode with all of the things I've been thinking about! I won't share all of those shenanigans with you though, bc who really cares, right? Plus...you might think I'm crazy if you realize what really goes on in my head all day! AND I've been so emotional lately, half of those thoughts are probably completely irrational, right??

Here's the thing though, for anybody who lives in the city, doesn't it just get overwhelming sometimes? I mean, I love that there is always something to do and new people to meet, but Las Vegas gets to be "too much" for me sometimes. I think that's why I liked Portland while I was there. This may sound cheesy, but I feel inspired by nature (hence why I'd choose mountains over beaches any day!), and sometimes I feel stifled in Las Vegas. I do fancy myself a creative person, and sometimes I really need that outlet. When you live in the city it's so easy to get wrapped up in the world and forget to take time for yourself. Is that just the little country bumpkin in me, or is there a healthy balance somewhere?

I love the colors and the freedom in nature and it seriously has a calming effect on me. Every time I go up to the mountains, or when I'm somewhere like Portland where it's green, and flowery, and beautiful I just feel better about everything. I like the city and all, but I feel like God gets lost in the buildings and the desert here. It's harder to find Him when you can't really see Him all around you as easily. I guess that's good though bc it forces me to look harder, which in turn builds my testimony. Plus, it forces me to step out of the city and make the time to go up to Mt. Charleston or something and "rejuvenate"

Anyway...that's really all I've been thinking about. I need to get out and recharge my creative batteries.
